2004 pre geo tube swell on Upham Beach provided by Gulfster

Suncoast Chapter Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit grassroots organization whose mission is the protection and enjoyment of the worlds oceans, beaches and waves with conservation, activism, research and education.

WHAT WE DO

The Surfrider Foundation has grown from a small group of dedicated surfers in Malibu, California to a global movement made up of over 50,000 members and 90 chapters worldwide. For more information visit us at Surfrider.org

Suncoast Chapter proudly upholds Surfriders mission on the Gulf Coast of Florida.  Our territory expands from the marshy coastline of Citrus County to the emeral green waters of Marco Island.

Re-established in 2007, the Suncoast Chapter beach activists keep Florida beaches cleaner in many ways.

Pinellas County:

The wave of Fertilizer Ordinances swells northward and Pinellas County activists are on board!  A coalition of organizations headed by the Sierra Club have come together to eliminate fertilizers in the Florida rainy season.

In spring 2009 the Suncoast chapter completed the first dune restoration on Maderia Beach's Archibald Park.

Thomas P launched our LocalS Campaign: a drive to lessen the instances of surf rage and provide a common goal good vibes on the waves and in the communities.

Hillsborough County:

SCSF assisted the UT Surf Club Davis Island Clean-up and attend USF Surf Club First Annual Eco Fashion Show.

Look out for our activists on the Loose in gathering YOUR support for the Fertilizer Ordinance in 2009!

Manatee/Sarasota County:

Our South of the Bridge sub-chapter got us involved in the passing of the 2008 Fertilizer Ordinance for the city of Sarasota. Manatee County is a 2009 target too!

And the chapter participates in Manatee County's Adopt-a-Shore program. We are offical!

Kudos to Amanda and team for all your efforts!

 Lee County:

Our SW FL sub-chapter pushed for the Fertilizer Ordinance which passed in May 2008. Kudos to Vincent, Darlene, and the SWFL crew for their efforts!
